Business Strategy: Celebration of Commitment Tips

TODAY’S BUSINESS STRATEGY: CELEBRATION OF COMMITMENT

Maggie asks you:
Do you keep your promises?
Are you on task to fulfill what you committed yourself to?
Are you consistently delivering?

YOUR Business Strategy today is to stop and celebrate what commitments you have kept over the past month, quarter, or year.  Let’s think about this one a little… what did you say you were going to do?

Congratulations – you were able to keep your work and deliver some awesome results! Take a moment and do the Happy Dance 🙂  Now, let’s talk about the other side of this coin… I’m not talking about the “To Do” list that is never-ending.  That’s not part of this conversation at all! What I’m referring to are the things we said we wanted to do, need to do, or would do.  Do you have a few of these? Of course you do 🙂

Let’s see how this business strategy shows up for one of my clients…

This particular client is in a sales position and does a majority of her promotional work via phone calls. When we started working together, I shared with her how many calls she needed to make a day to attract enough clients to make her sales objectives. She laughed and told me she could do twice as many as I had asked. What do you think happened?

She was able to fulfill her amount for 2 days and then totally bottomed out! Why? She isn’t a Ferrari! She’s only human, and it takes time to build up to consistently delivering at a  high performance level.  Doubt me? How many people do you know that are still upholding their New Year’s Resolution?

Regardless of what type of task it is, more often than not incremental change will withhold the test of time versus fully committing oneself to something that is outrageously requiring us to perform at optimal levels each moment. Proof: even Olympic Athletes have “down time” and work out differently on certain days to give different parts of their bodies a break.

Oh, I forgot to finish the client story: So now after 2 months she is realizing that all she has to do is consistently show up in the manner that we originally discussed … and keep doing that… and of course now she is starting to see favorable results! Yay for her 🙂

Alright, how does this show up for me?

Well, even though last week we celebrated the milestone of 300 blog posts here, this posting is the anniversary of 2 years of blogging on this platform. For 2 years you have inspired me to keep going when it wasn’t easy. Somehow YOU inspired me to overcome distractions of vacations and holidays, the blahs of being ill, hectic schedules, new business development, and even lately only being able to type with one hand. Why? I made my commitment to you of “getting your posts three times a week” a priority because I promised you this!

Thus, we have a Celebration of Commitment here and now 🙂 Thank you for inspiring me to keep going. I appreciate you!

And I also share with you that I may be awesome, but I’m not perfect! Tomorrow I’m going to have my first massage with a bodyworker who I told (last year) I would make an appt.  with her.  Apparently I didn’t make this a priority and my promise pooped out.  Then, I had my motorcycle crash… and voila, now I have to (need) her to work on me! Yikes, Hopefully we don’t need such a harsh event to help us stay true to our commitments… I know I’m re-evaluating this, and invite you to join me 🙂

YOUR Brilliant Inquiry:

  1. What one commitment would you like to celebrate being fulfilled?
  2. Take appropriate action to manifest this as your new reality.
  3. Once you have that in place, then add another one or two…

CAUTION: Not too many new things at once or you will be taking on too much again. Only one new business strategy at a time please 🙂

REMEMBER: “Baby steps” will eventually get you where you need to be!

 READY?

What are now willing to step into with full commitment?

  1. Great blog and congratulations on the 300!!!

I know for me I’m just stepping into new directions and am doing the happy dance for hanging in there! Sometimes it’s really hard. So you’re blog to remind me that it takes baby steps kept me going today and tomorrow! Thanks Maggie for all you do!!

    1. Thanks for the kudos! I just keep remembering the song from one of the Christmas programs when we were kids, “…put one foot in front of the other, and soon you’ll be walking across the floor” 🙂 Sometimes it is that easy. Hopefully your remembrance will provide great ease for you!

  2. There is a lot here in this one post Maggie! I was going to committ to emailing 50 people a day to introduce them to my new audio program. After reading your post, I think it might be best to set out to do that today… see how much time it would take me and then decide on what a realistic number would be for me to send out each day. This way the number I choose will be realistic. I also think that 5 days a week might be too much. I might settle on doing that 4 times a week. Once I have the realistic numbers I will committ to that, and add it directly to my weekly calendar even to the point of choosing the time blocks that I would accomplish the task. OKay, sounds like a plan!!! Thanks for the inspiration today Maggie!

    1. Thanks for sharing your thought processing on this Barbara Marie – I bet others will find it useful to see how we do this type of mental gymnastics to ourselves all the time and don’t even realize how much time or energy it really may be requiring… sometimes I think it’s just easier to just start with action on a project than to go through the mental preparation of taking another project on… but, we do know the time it takes to create a solid intention is absolutely critical :)… so happy to learn of your final decision and can’t wait to hear the results!
